Terms of Service
popterminal.com is a receive-only email service. Use it for development, automation, and small-scale personal mail. No spam, phishing, or illegal content. We can rate-limit or revoke any handle. No warranty — important mail belongs in an inbox you control. German / EU law applies.
What popterminal is
popterminal is a receive-only email service for developers and automated agents. It has two parts:
- The CLI (the
popterminalnpm package) — open-source under the MIT License. You can run it locally, audit it, modify it, fork it. - The hosted backend at popterminal.com — proprietary Cloudflare Worker that issues anonymous handles and forwards inbound mail to your CLI. Operating this service is what these Terms govern.
Using the CLI in BYO-domain mode (where you run your own Cloudflare Worker and tunnel) does not require these Terms — there's no popterminal.com involvement.
Acceptable use
You may use popterminal.com to:
- Receive OTPs, magic links, and signup confirmations during development
- Capture inbound email in automated test suites and agent workflows
- Receive small-scale personal mail (newsletters, notifications, etc.)
You may not use popterminal.com to:
- Send or facilitate spam, phishing, or fraud
- Receive mail intended to evade account-fraud or anti-abuse systems
- Receive or distribute illegal content of any kind
- Receive mail on behalf of an identity that is not yours, with the intent to deceive
- Abuse, harass, or stalk any person or organization
Rate limits
To keep the service available for everyone, popterminal.com applies hard limits at the Worker layer:
- Up to 10 handle registrations per hour per source IP
- Up to 100 messages per hour per handle (subsequent mail is dropped with a 429 to the sender)
- Up to 100 buffered messages per handle while offline; oldest are dropped first
These limits exist to prevent abuse, not to upsell. If a legitimate use case bumps into them, contact us — we'll figure it out.
Our rights
We may rate-limit, suspend, or revoke any handle at our discretion, with or without notice, if we believe it is being used in violation of these Terms or to harm the service.
We respond to valid law-enforcement requests pursuant to applicable law in the operator's jurisdiction (Germany / EU). If you receive mail through popterminal.com, you should not assume it is private from authorities holding lawful process.
No warranty
popterminal.com is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, timely, or error-free. We may experience outages. We may discontinue the hosted service with reasonable notice; the open-source CLI will continue to function and can be pointed at a self-hosted backend.
Do not rely on popterminal.com to receive mail that is important to receive. Critical mail belongs in an inbox you own and control.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the operator's total liability for any claim arising from your use of popterminal.com is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid for the service in the past 12 months (zero, for anonymous mode) or (b) one hundred euros.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be brought before the competent courts of Berlin, Germany.
Open source
The popterminal CLI is licensed under the MIT License. Source distribution: npmjs.com/package/popterminal. The MIT license applies to the CLI source only; it does not grant rights to operate a service under the popterminal trademark, brand, or domain.
Changes to these Terms
If we materially change these Terms, the "last updated" date at the top will move forward. Continuing to use popterminal.com after a change constitutes acceptance.
